Mixed breeds or just mixed up

My dog Sammy loves cats (except when there are other dogs around) and these pictures prove it! The neighbors cat had a bunch of kittens and they hang out with Sammy all the time, but this beats all I've seen. I was leaving this afternoon and found Sammy lying down and one of the kittens trying to nurse off of her!!! The kitten had one of Sammy's ninnies in her mouth just suckeling away and almost asleep. It was half sweet but mostly wierd. Is Sammy normal??!! Could she be a little confused? Or maybe she misses the days long gone of her feeding her little puppies? Who knows. But I think I'm going to use this as blackmail for the next time she decides to act all big and bad when her dog friends come around and she starts chasing the poor cats and barking at them!

I know I'm from the country when...

I take my little three year old to a public restroom and she says, "No Mommy, I don't have to go now. You can just let me go in the cornfield like I usually do on the way home." I thought I would die!! I was hoping nobody was in there to hear us. It was too funny!

First Homeschool Field Trip

Well today was our first official homeschool field trip of the year and what an awesome number of kids we had. There is a total of 21 kids in our group!!! I was really excited to see so many kids. My girls had a great time. Our fieldtrip was to the library. After the program we all went outside and had a picnic behind the library. The kids enjoyed running around and getting to know each other. I'm excited because our group will go on one fieldtrip a month and then we are also involved in the homeschool 4-H group which also meets once a month for either a program or a fieldtrip. And Monday is our official first day of school!!! I can't wait!

King's Dominion

For Rebecca's 6th birthday we all went to King's Dominion for the day. We had a blast riding the rides and playing in the water works area. The kids' favorite ride was the kiddie roller coaster which on our last run they all rode with their hands in the air! Jimmy even got Rebecca to ride the Scooby Doo roller coaster, but she said she wouldn't do it again until she was way older!

Rebecca's new room

Well first I'll start with Saturday. Jimmy's 30th birthday is today, and he happened to be on his five days off this weekend....so I planned a little surprise for him. About a week and a half ago I, along with numerous friends, started making plans to keep Jimmy out of Woodland for the day until it was time for the surprise. We had it at the firehouse, and if you know Jimmy you know that he practically lives there. So the first thing I had to do was get him out of town for the day. I asked him last weekend to please go with me to clean cottages. He VERY reluctantly said yes, which was perfect! Phase one complete! One of his buddies reserved the building for me starting at 5:00 so if we were to come home early he wouldn't go up there. Phase three...Vickie called us sometime that day and asked if we wanted to come over and cookout and then go out somewhere b/c they had no kids (all part of the plan). Of course Jimmy said yes, so on to the next phase. We went over to the Soper's and they had fixed us an awesome dinner. We ate and hung out until it was time to go. Then we all piled in the car and headed to "Jimmy's Bar", but we had to make a "pit stop" because someone at the firehouse "wanted Vickie to stop by". Last phase...she goes in, stays a few minutes, comes out and tells the guys that one of the firemen wants them to come in for a few minutes. We all get out of the car, walk in to the firehouse and SURPRISE!!!!! Although, I don't think he was all that surprised. He said he had a feeling, until Vickie got out of the car and left it running, then he thought, "Naw, it's nothing." But when she came back out to get us, he was definitely thinking it then. We had a great time and I owe a lot of people a great big Thank You for all the help. It took a lot of us to pull this off.

Ok, now to the bedroom. All three girls have been sharing a room for a while now, and have been playing musical beds for just as long. Hannah has been the only constant, staying in her bed and her bed only. The other two shuffle from here to there every night. The main reason why is because all we've had is Hannah's double bed, a toddler bed, and the crib. The crib was Rebecca's and it's the type that turns into a double bed like Hannah's. Sunday night after much fussing over who was sleeping where, Jimmy decided it was time to make the change. So off we went Monday morning in search of a mattress and new bedding. As soon as we got home we had to take the crib apart and clean the headboard and footboard. By the time the bed was put together Hannah had already kicked Leah out of her room. Leah's toddler bed was sitting in the hallway!! Poor Leah! So we moved her to Rebecca's room. And now everyone is happy...Hannah has her own room, Rebecca finally has her own bed, and Leah at least has one sister that will share a room with her!

This is Jimmy and I cleaning away.
Rebecca in her new bed.
That night we gave Rebecca her birthday present...and purple Hannah Montana guitar. That's what she had been wanting. Now her and her sister can play together alongside daddy! (Anyone know where they can get lessons????)

Hey...my icing's all gone!

These pictures are from last summer, but my dad, the girls and I were laughing at them today so I thought I would share the laugh. I just happened to capture the order of events perfectly! Ok, so we're at my dad's birthday party and all of the kids are outside eating their cupcakes when all of a sudden.....

Abigail realizes her icing is all gone.
No worries, I'll eat Emily's!
"What's wrong with you?", thought Abigail.
With teary filled eyes, Emily replies, "My icing is all gone!"

My classroom

I think I am almost done with my classroom!! I still have a few more things to do like hang the boards on the wall, hang some posters, and I'm waiting on a few more books. But then that should be it! I think we are just about ready for school.

For all you animal lovers...this is too funny!

Lemonade 50 cents!!

The girls had some friends spend the night last night, and today they decided to have a lemonade stand. Of course, I had to call my parents and our guests grandparents so they could have some customers. They each made $1.50, but I know they were spending some of their own money to buy their own drinks...so who knows how much they really made. They gave me a dollar though! I guess that's supposed to cover the cost of cups, lemonade, ice, and the use of the Miller Light umbrella!! How wrong was that umbrella?! Hey, they needed shade.

Dora cake

My first Dora cake! This was for Shelley's youngest daughter Rylee for her second birthday. Hope she had a great birthday! And happy late birthday to Tina!!

My latest read

A friend of mine whom I met while living in Korea sent me this book. It is a christian fiction book and worth the read. Although it is fiction, it really helps you understand the trinity, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The way this book describes God's love for all of us and how He wants our lives to be is awesome. It really made me think and it deepened my faith and I found myself saying, "Oh, yeah, that makes sense" quite a bit while reading. It's hard to give you the story line without giving away the story. But to generalize the book, it's about a man who had a hard young life but overcame it until something tragic, terribly tragic takes place and his so called faith was put to the test. I would definitely recommend this book.

My new addiction

Sudoku! I've heard of it and Jimmy even has a book, but I've never tried it until Wednesday night. I finally took the time to ask how to play and now I AM HOOKED! I do not have time for another addiction, LOL!
