I thought I had a hard name to pronounce!

So I got this email today and thought it was way funny, but probably absolutely true.

If you saw a child's name written like this, how would you pronounce it? Le-a

Leah? No.

Lee - A? No.

Lay - a? No.

Lei? Nope.

The "proper" pronunciation is "Ladasha"!! Yes, that's right! Apparently this child attends school in Livingston, LA and her mother was becoming irate because everyone was pronouncing her name wrong. Well, HELOOOOOOO! When asked about the pronunciation her mother replied, "The dash don't be silent." Now I've heard it all! If I have another child I think I might name her La*. That's pronounced La-asterick. And don't you get it wrong!

HAHAHAHA!!! That is just too funny and I am sure it is absolutely true! We do the Headstart Transportation and you should see the names that come in on the bus cards. Those poor children! They will all have a long row to hoe!

I just saw something on your post..."pronounced La-asterick"? Girl, that is Ladashasterick...La-*! Get it right...lol

We have a girl pregnant here at work and I said to her "You are going to give him a normal name, right?" She said "Oh yeah girl, his name is going to be "Jacorey"'. When did Jacorey become "normal"? I tried to hold back my laughter, but I mean, really...what is wrong with just Corey, right Shari?!?!?!

I heard that joke too! Be glad your Mom didn't name you Orangejello (O-ron-ja-lo) or Lemonjello (La-mon-ja-lo)!

I don't know how these parents expect the children to learn the darn name when they don't know themselves. If they did, they would have not named them that stupid mess in the first place.

I have problems with my name believe it or not. My full name is Judith. I shorten it for that very reason. But I spell it with a "I" not a "Y". JUDI

yes..i so can believe this! There are people that really just don't get it...Us, for not knowing that the dash spells something...how do we not know this THEM for MAKING THINGS SO FREAGIN DIFFICULT and naming that poor child something so ridiculous. That child will have to go thru life explaining to people how stupid her mom was to name or this. I can just see me now calling a patient on the phone with lab results..."Is Le-aLKJLJLLJO(#&$#(*$IHHGFLSHGSH:L there?
